This program will provide an advanced training in motivational interviewing for clinicians. Using complex clinical examples, we will practice conceptualizing behavior change from within a motivational interviewing framework as well as role play strategies for incorporating motivational interviewing into CBT treatment. - Conceptualize clients’ behavior and explain what motivational interviewing strategies to incorporate at what stage of treatment.
- Utilize motivational interviewing strategies for enhancing change behaviors and discuss applying strategies within the context of CBT and other evidence-based treatments.
- Discuss complicated clinical scenarios and how to apply motivational interviewing interventions to improve client care.
- Understand application of and research on MI strategies as they apply to different intersecting identities and individuals who have experienced marginalization.
- Role play MI techniques in a CBT or DBT session
- Explore and conceptualize application of MI strategies into CBT and DBT sessions
