Policies

DBT Level 1 Training Policies

Synthesis Psychological Consortium

Training Policies & CE Credit Requirements

DBT Level 1 — 12-Week Intensive Training

PART I — CE CREDIT POLICIES

1. Program Overview

This training is a 12-week intensive program consisting of twelve (12) weekly live, synchronous sessions, each two (2) hours in length, for a total of 24 CE credit hours available to participants who meet all requirements described below.

Synthesis Psychological Consortium is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Synthesis Psychological Consortium maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

2. CE Credit Structure

CE credit is awarded on a per-session basis, not as a single lump sum at the end of the program:

2 CE credit hours are available for each weekly 2-hour session.

24 CE credit hours are available in total across all 12 sessions.

• Participants earn credit only for the individual sessions in which they meet all three requirements described in Section 3. Credit is not transferable between sessions and cannot be combined or averaged.

3. Requirements to Earn CE Credit for Each Session

To earn the 2 CE credit hours associated with a given session, a participant must satisfy all three of the following requirements for that specific session:

• a. Full attendance. The participant must be present for the entire live 2-hour session, from start to finish (see Section 4).

• b. Post-session quiz. The participant must complete and submit the post-session quiz assessing the session's learning objectives.

• c. Course evaluation. The participant must complete and submit the session evaluation.

All three requirements must be completed within 7 calendar days of the session / before the next session begins through the CE-Go platform. A participant who satisfies only one or two of the three requirements for a given session — for example, attending the full session but not completing the quiz and evaluation — will not receive CE credit for that session.

4. Attendance Monitoring and Verification

Attendance is monitored and verified electronically through the live video conferencing platform used to deliver each session. Specifically:

• Participants must log in to the live session under their own name and remain logged in for the entire scheduled 2-hour period.

• The platform's login/logout timestamps and session duration report are used to verify the length of each participant's attendance.

• Presenters may use periodic engagement checks (e.g., polls, chat prompts, or verbal check-ins) during the session to confirm active participation, and participants are expected to keep their camera on throughout, as described in Section 5.

• Arriving late, leaving early, or being logged in without active engagement for any portion of the session may result in that session's CE credit not being awarded.

Consistent with APA continuing education sponsor standards, credit is awarded only for actual full instructional time attended. Partial, prorated, or “make-up” credit for incomplete attendance at a session is not available under any circumstances.

5. Cameras-On Policy

To support engagement, attendance verification, and a connected learning environment appropriate for clinical training, participants are required to keep their video camera on for the full duration of each live session, except during scheduled breaks.

• Camera video should show the participant's face and be reasonably well-lit and unobstructed.

• Participants should join from a private, quiet location that supports both their own engagement and the confidentiality expectations described in Section 10.

• Because camera-on participation is one of the ways attendance and engagement are verified (see Section 4), a session attended with the camera off for a substantial portion — outside of scheduled breaks — may not be counted as full attendance for CE credit purposes.

• Participants who anticipate needing an exception (e.g., a documented accommodation under Section 17, a technical limitation, or another legitimate reason) should notify the program coordinator in advance whenever possible so alternate arrangements can be considered.

6. Missed Sessions

Participants who do not attend a session live, in full, will not receive CE credit for that session. There is no partial credit, pro-rated credit, retroactive credit, or make-up credit for missed sessions.

Missing one or more sessions does not remove a participant from the training or prevent them from attending and earning credit for subsequent sessions. However, the participant's total CE credit for the program will be reduced accordingly. For example, a participant who misses one session but fully meets all requirements for the other eleven will earn 22 of the possible 24 CE credit hours.

7. Recorded Sessions Are Not Eligible for CE Credit

Sessions are recorded and made available to enrolled participants for personal reference and review of content only (see also the recording and privacy terms in Section 12).

Watching a recording of a session — whether the participant missed it entirely or is reviewing it afterward — does not earn CE credit for that session, under any circumstances. This is true even if the participant completes the post-session quiz and course evaluation for that session. CE credit under this program requires verified live, synchronous attendance as described in Sections 3 through 5; recordings are provided solely to support participants' learning and are not a substitute for live attendance for CE purposes.

8. Certificates of Completion

Certificates of CE completion are issued through the CE-Go platform and will reflect the actual number of CE credit hours earned (up to the maximum of 24), based on the sessions for which a participant met all requirements in Section 3.

• Cumulative certificates are issued after the final (12th) session, once attendance, quiz, and evaluation records for the full series have been verified.

• A participant who withdraws from the program before it concludes, or who does not complete all 12 sessions, may request a certificate reflecting the CE credit hours earned as of that point in the program.

PART II — PROGRAM & CONDUCT POLICIES

9. Safe & Inclusive Learning Space

Synthesis Psychological Consortium is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all participants, presenters, and staff, consistent with the ethical standards of the psychology profession.

• Participants are expected to engage with colleagues, presenters, and course content with professionalism, respect, and openness to diverse perspectives, backgrounds, identities, and clinical approaches.

• This training welcomes and values diversity across race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, and other dimensions of identity and lived experience.

• Discriminatory, harassing, demeaning, or disrespectful conduct toward any participant, presenter, or staff member — in live sessions, chat, breakout discussions, or written materials — will not be tolerated.

• Substantive disagreement and critical discussion of clinical material, theory, and technique are welcomed and expected as part of professional learning; this expectation of respect concerns how such disagreement is expressed, not the substance of legitimate professional debate.

Concerns about conduct in the learning space may be raised informally with the program coordinator or through the grievance procedure in Section 16. Synthesis Psychological Consortium reserves the right to address conduct that violates this policy, up to and including removal from the training without refund (see Section 13).

10. Confidentiality

Because this training may include clinical case discussion, consultation, or experiential exercises, participants agree to:

• Never disclose identifying information about clients/patients during sessions; case material should be de-identified consistent with applicable legal and ethical confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA, the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct).

• Treat personal, clinical, or otherwise sensitive information shared by fellow participants, presenters, or staff during the training as confidential, and not repeat or disclose it outside the training without that person's permission.

• Participate from a private location where session audio/video cannot be overheard or seen by others not enrolled in the training, to protect both client confidentiality and the confidentiality of group discussion.

11. Technology Requirements

To participate fully and meet the attendance requirements in Section 4, participants are responsible for ensuring they have:

• A reliable internet connection sufficient for continuous video conferencing for the full 2-hour session.

• A device with a functioning camera and microphone.

• Access to and familiarity with Zoom and the CE-Go platform prior to the first session.

Participants experiencing a technical issue during a session should notify the program coordinator as soon as possible, ideally during the session, so it can be documented. All technical issues are documented, but CE credit can only be awarded when the attendance verification requirements in Section 4 are met; Synthesis Psychological Consortium is not able to guarantee CE credit for time missed due to a participant's personal technology or connectivity issues.

12. Recording & Privacy Notice

By enrolling in this training, participants acknowledge and agree that:

• Live sessions are recorded for administrative, quality-assurance, and participant-reference purposes, as described in Section 7.

• Recordings may capture participants' video, audio, chat messages, and other contributions made during the session.

• Recordings are intended for use by enrolled participants and Synthesis Psychological Consortium staff/presenters only, and may not be downloaded, copied, further distributed, or posted publicly by participants.

• Independent or unauthorized recording of sessions by participants (e.g., separate screen or audio recording) is prohibited.

Participants who have concerns about being recorded should contact the program coordinator prior to the start of the training to discuss available options.

13. Registration, Cancellation & Refund Policy

• All program fees are due at the time of registration.

Synthesis Psychological Consortium maintains a no-refund policy for this training. Because this is a cohort-based, sequential program in which each session builds on prior sessions, no refunds, credits, or transfers are issued once a participant has registered.

• No refunds, credits, or discounts are provided for sessions missed by the participant after the training has begun, regardless of reason, consistent with the CE credit policies described in Sections 3 through 7.

• If a participant is removed from the training for a violation of the policies in this document (e.g., Section 9), no refund will be issued.

14. Provider-Initiated Cancellation or Rescheduling

In the rare event that Synthesis Psychological Consortium must cancel or reschedule a session (e.g., due to presenter illness, technical failure, or an emergency), enrolled participants will be notified as soon as possible, and the session will be rescheduled to a makeup date or the program will be extended by one week.

If Synthesis Psychological Consortium cancels the training in its entirety before it is completed, participants will receive a prorated refund for sessions not yet delivered, and/or CE credit for hours already earned.

15. Self-Care & Content Advisory

This training may include discussion of clinical topics that some participants find personally or professionally challenging (e.g., trauma, suicide risk, grief, or other sensitive clinical material). Participants are encouraged to practice self-care throughout the training, including stepping away briefly if needed.

Participants who step away briefly for self-care reasons should keep in mind that CE credit still requires the full-attendance standard described in Section 4; participants who anticipate this need are welcome to discuss individual circumstances with the program coordinator in advance. This training and its staff are not a substitute for participants' own mental health support, consultation, or clinical supervision.

PART III — SUPPORT & RESOLUTION

16. Grievance and Complaint Procedure

Synthesis Psychological Consortium is committed to resolving participant concerns promptly and fairly. Participants with a concern or complaint about any aspect of this training — including content, presentation, administration, conduct, or CE credit determinations — should follow this process:

Step 1 – Informal resolution. Contact the program coordinator during, or immediately following, the session in which the concern arose, so it can be addressed as quickly as possible.

Step 2 – Formal written complaint. If the concern is not resolved informally, submit a written complaint within 30 calendar days of the session (or of the program's conclusion) to info@synthesispsychological.com. Synthesis Psychological Consortium will acknowledge and respond to formal complaints within 15 business days.

Step 3 – Escalation. If the complaint cannot be resolved internally to the participant's satisfaction, the participant may contact the APA Office of Continuing Education in Psychology Sponsor Approval at cesaoas@apa.org.

Written records of all complaints and their resolutions are retained for a minimum of three (3) years. Filing a complaint will not affect a participant's standing in the training or eligibility for CE credit already earned.

17. Accessibility and Accommodations

Synthesis Psychological Consortium is committed to making this training accessible to participants with disabilities. Participants who require a reasonable accommodation (e.g., captioning, materials in an alternate format, an exception to the cameras-on policy in Section 5, or other accessibility support) should contact info@synthesispsychological.com at least 30 days before the affected session whenever possible, so that arrangements can be made.

18. Questions

Questions about these policies, attendance, or CE credit status should be directed to info@synthesispsychological.com.
